15/11/2011 Tonight was amazing. I am honestly lost for words. My mama, dad and I went to see Emilie Autumn perform at the Espy Hotel and it was fantastic. The room was long and narrow. I didn't know what kind of a view I'd have from my wheelchair, and as the people kept pouring in, my heart sank as I gradually saw less. I didn't think I would see her at all, so I thought, "Well, at least I shall be able to hear her sing."
As she and the Bloody Crumpets appeared on stage, my face lit up as I could see all of theirs! Between bobbing heads, if I strained enough, I saw a clear image of them all: Veronica Varlow, Captain Maggot, The Blessed Contessa and of course Emilie.
I won't go into detail, but it was amazing. Hearing her music live is so much more powerful that listening to it through my iPod. Her lyrics eat straight into my heart, I can really relate to the meanings as I've been through some myself. I don't think I feel so connected to a musician like I do to her. She's nothing short of inspiring.
I got many photos, most are blurry, however I feel it adds to the atmosphere, to me, she looked similar to fairy floss, floating around the stage with her wispy hair. Some photos are definitely better than others though, and my camera is officially broken. Good end to it I think!
Once the show ended, I took my time to leave, went to the stage, took some photos of the set, some teacups (we got spat on with tea and biscuits by the Bloody Crumpets!) and picked up a rose someone gave to Emilie during a song which she then held and later threw back.
As I needed wheelchair access, I had to make my entry via the men's toilet, however as we left, we went through the backstage car park. As my skin met the cool breeze, my eyes met Emilie Autumn's. I was in total, utter shock. There is NO way. It was purely a 'at the right moment' moment! I couldn't help but stare, and I noticed the Bloody Crumpets were there too. Emilie came up to me and hugged me, kissed my head many times. She was stunning. We had a chat for a short while, she had a beautiful heart. I got a photo taken, and a kiss on the cheek from Captain Maggot;
CM - "Oops, I left a big, red, glittery maggot kiss on your cheek!" (she tried to get it off)
Me- "It's fine, I don't mind!"
EA- "Yes, red is definitely her colour!"
The doubt I had at the start of the night about not knowing if I'd see her disappeared immediately. I hugged, talked and laughed with her in person, and that made the night even more amazing <3 I'd definitely go back and see her again, she said the next show will be bigger and better!
I can't believe I met her, it all feels like a dream, but when I woke up this morning, I still had a big, red, glittery maggot kiss on my cheek!
