Do not steal my art, create your own.
So this photo shoot has been months in the making! I first got the idea soon after starting injecting myself, so that meant I only had two syringes a day - I only had about 8 collected at the time. So now, a few months have passed and I had 112 ex-needle syringes to play with! I am so pleased with the results and was shocked it only took 40 photos to get the set I wanted (big upgrade from the 100+ I can take, trying to get "the one".)
I inject myself (subcutaneous) in the stomach once a day, first with a local anaesthetic, switch syringes over then inject Magnesium. This has kept my migraine away since my first injection - incredible. Once a week my dad injects a huge needle with thick fluid (intramuscular) Bicillin (which is a form of Penicillin) into my "upper outer butt muscle" which hurt so much my body shuts down and wants me to faint to escape it. Of course my pacemaker prevents the pass out, but I don't get the relief of doing so, so I lie down for a fair while trying to calm my Central Nervous System down.
Needless to say (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist that pun) I used my doll Herx to do this shoot as he is the doll that represents my chronic Lyme Disease. I hope these can raise awareness of Lyme Disease to whoever may look at these now and in the future. If the government recognised this disease, there would be no need for people like me, 14 years down the track, injecting myself with needles, especially the big and painful ones, just to try and function each day. If we had the treatment we deserve, this, and everything else, could stop.
As a side note to the Australian Government, let me just say that LYME DISEASE IS IN AUSTRALIA. WAKE UP AND STOP DE-REGISTERING THE VERY FEW DOCTORS WHO ARE QUALIFIED TO TREAT US. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND AND WAKE UP.
That is all! I hope you like it.
Title comes from the fact I had the needles in a box for this idea and is also a song title from "The Used".
